A serious traffic accident occurred earlier today in the commune of Ungureni, Bacău County. Around noon, a car driven by a 71-year-old man from Brașov County collided with a minibus while entering an intersection.
The minibus was being driven lawfully by a 50-year-old man from the commune of Pârincea. As a result of the impact, the front-seat passenger in the car — a 70-year-old woman — died at the scene. The driver of the car sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for medical care.
Both drivers were tested with a breathalyzer, and results showed that neither was under the influence of alcohol.
Police have opened a criminal investigation and are conducting inquiries to determine the exact circumstances of the accident. The case is being handled as involuntary manslaughter and bodily injury by negligence.
Recommendation: Authorities remind all road users of the importance of respecting traffic rules, especially at marked intersections, in order to prevent such tragedies.
