Antonia Frick, founder of the YANA – You Are Not Alone Foundation, has been awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of Bacau County in recognition of her contribution to supporting vulnerable children and families in eastern Romania.
The distinction was granted by the Bacau County Council with the unanimous vote of county councillors, County Council President Cristina Breahnă-Pravăț announced.
Breahnă-Pravăț noted that the award coincides with the 30th anniversary of the YANA Foundation’s activity in Romania.
According to the county council president, Frick first came to Romania in 1995 and, after witnessing the difficulties faced by disadvantaged families, established the YANA Foundation a year later. Over the past three decades, the organization has implemented projects providing social, educational and material assistance to hundreds of children and families across Bacau County.
The award ceremony took place in the village of Bâșca, Berzunți commune, during the inauguration of the „Casa Antonia” Day Centre, an event marking the foundation’s anniversary year.
Among those attending the ceremony were His Serene Highness Prince Michael von und zu Liechtenstein, a founding member of the YANA Foundation, Antonia Frick, Anna Maria D’Hulster, as well as representatives, volunteers and supporters of the organization.
In her message, Breahnă-Pravăț praised the YANA Foundation’s long-standing commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and expressed appreciation to the organization’s team and to its Bacau County representative, Gabriela Mateiu, for their work over the past 30 years.
