Two men, aged 51 and 27, have been detained for 24 hours after allegedly assaulting a police officer responding to a disturbance at a bar in Faraoani commune, Bacău County, police said.
According to the Bacău County Police Inspectorate, the incident occurred on the evening of Aug. 29, at around 8:30 p.m., after a bar employee called the national emergency number 112 to report that several customers were behaving aggressively inside the premises.
A patrol from the Rural Police Section in Răcăciuni was dispatched to the scene. While officers were identifying those involved, two of the men allegedly refused to comply with police instructions and attacked the officers.
After one of the officers was struck by one of the suspects, his colleague fired warning shots into the air using his service weapon. The two men then fled the scene, police said.
A joint investigative team subsequently identified and located the suspects, aged 51 and 27.
Based on the evidence gathered, the case prosecutor ordered their detention for 24 hours. Both men were taken to the detention and pre-trial arrest facility operated by the Bacău County Police Inspectorate.
The investigation is being conducted by the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Bacău District Court. The suspects are being investigated on allegations of assaulting a police officer, making threats, and disturbing public order.
