Bacău County Council has inaugurated the modernized and expanded „Iulian Antonescu” Museum Complex, following a 34.73 million lei (approximately EUR 7 million) investment financed through Romania’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and the county budget.
According to Bacău County Council President Cristina Breahnă-Pravăț, the project included the rehabilitation, energy-efficiency upgrade and extension of the museum building on Nicolae Titulescu Street, bringing together the county’s Art Museum, History Museum and Ethnography Museum under one roof.
The total value of the investment amounted to 34.73 million lei, of which 3.78 million lei was provided through the PNRR’s Renovation Wave (Component C5), while more than 30 million lei came from the Bacău County Council’s own budget.
County officials said the renovated building was equipped with modern energy-efficient technologies, including photovoltaic panels and heat pumps. The upgrades are expected to reduce annual energy consumption for heating by 77.14% and greenhouse gas emissions by 83.06%.
„This is more than a renovated building. It is a place where we preserve and showcase the history, traditions and cultural heritage of our county,” Breahnă-Pravăț said during the inauguration ceremony.
She added that the museum complex is intended to become an open cultural hub for the local community, with a strong focus on educational activities and the promotion of local heritage, particularly among children and young people.
The project was implemented by the Bacău County Council’s project team, led by project manager Cristina Racoveanu, in cooperation with the management and staff of the „Iulian Antonescu” Museum Complex.
