School buses in the Romanian city of Bacau will resume operations on Monday with the start of the new academic year, with the network expanded through the introduction of a new route linking the Fiald neighbourhood to Dumitru Mangeron Technological High School, Mayor Lucian Daniel Stanciu Viziteu said.
The new service will depart daily at 0710 local time from the Fiald bus stop and will stop at several locations across the city, including Arena Mall, Cathedral Park, City Hall, Piata Sud, Orizont, Narcisa and Henri Coanda High School before reaching its final destination, the mayor said.
Existing school bus routes serving the Serbanesti, Gheraiesti and ANL Letea districts will continue to operate, while two services will remain dedicated to students attending the Catholic College.
All school buses will depart at 0710 and each vehicle will be accompanied by a local police officer to ensure order and the safety of students, according to the mayor.
Viziteu urged parents to renew students’ travel passes, which are required to validate journeys, and advised those whose children will be using the school bus service for the first time to accompany them to the bus during the first days of the school year to help reduce traffic congestion around schools.
The mayor also said he would travel on the school buses on Monday to assess how the service operates and identify any issues that may arise.
