Romanian home improvement retailer Dedeman is preparing to open a new, significantly larger store in Bacau, eastern Romania, on November 6, relocating its existing outlet on Calea Republicii to a nearby facility as part of an expansion and modernisation project.

The new store, located at 169 Calea Republicii, will replace the company’s current outlet at number 185, maintaining its presence in the same commercial area while substantially increasing retail space and parking capacity.

The facility will cover nearly 18,000 square metres, representing a 68% increase compared with the existing store. Its parking area will accommodate 518 vehicles, providing 213 additional spaces.

A major feature of the new development is a 2,384-square-metre greenhouse section dedicated to gardening products and plants. The area will be divided into temperature-controlled zones suitable for both heat-loving species and plants requiring cooler conditions.

The expanded store will also introduce a more comprehensive interior design display area, featuring fully furnished room settings intended to help customers compare furniture, materials and decorative solutions.

These will include five living room designs, 15 bedroom configurations, five kitchen layouts and 33 bathroom displays, allowing shoppers to explore different combinations of furnishings, finishes and accessories before making purchasing decisions.

Expanded retail facilities and customer services

The new outlet will retain a range of services already available to Dedeman customers, including tool and equipment rental, custom paint and decorative plaster mixing, curtain and drapery production, post-warranty servicing and financing options.

Electric vehicle charging stations will also be available at the new location.

The relocation is intended to improve the shopping experience by providing more space for product displays, a wider range of interior design solutions and easier access for customers transporting bulky construction and renovation materials.

Founded in Bacau in 1992 by brothers Dragos and Adrian Paval, Dedeman has grown into one of Romania’s leading home improvement retailers, operating a nationwide network of stores specialising in construction materials, home renovation products, furniture and gardening supplies.

The company’s continued investment in Bacau reflects its longstanding ties to the city where the business was established more than three decades ago.

The new store is scheduled to open on Friday, November 6, at 8:00 a.m. local time.

The relocation is expected to strengthen Dedeman’s retail operations in the southern part of Bacau, offering improved facilities for customers from the city and surrounding communities.
