Residents of Bacău can discover and purchase products from farms and small food-processing businesses across Moldova at the “From Here, Close By. From Moldova” fair, taking place from October 9 to 11 at Carrefour hypermarket in the Supernova shopping centre.
Held for the first time in Bacău, the event brings together 33 local producers from Carrefour’s supplier network and the Agrointeligența community. Visitors can sample and buy regional products while learning directly from producers about their origins and the stories behind them.
The fair is organised by the Agrointeligența Group in partnership with Carrefour Romania, with institutional support from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The initiative aims to strengthen links between local producers and consumers while increasing the visibility of products made by Romanian farms and small processing businesses.
From fresh produce to cheeses, meat products and wine
The fair features a wide range of food products, including seasonal fruit and vegetables, dairy products, cheeses, honey, meat products, preserves, bakery goods and beverages.
Fruit producers include the Grădina Noastră cooperative from Huși and Oltean Petrișor, offering grapes, as well as the Livezile Fălticeni Agricultural Cooperative and the Itești Fruit Growers Association, which bring apples. Alincăi Gavril is also participating with plums and apples.
Autumn vegetables are represented by Natur Champ, Ușurelu Adrian and Agri Bio Ghindaoani, with products including tomatoes, bell peppers, aubergines, mushrooms and green tomatoes.
Visitors can explore meat and meat products from Agricola, Authentic Meat SRL, II Croitoru Andrei, Balky Com SRL, Gherguț’s Ranch and Avastar. Fish products are supplied by Pescado Group SRL, Arca and Serviciile Comerciale Române.
Dairy products and eggs are available from Avicola Lumina, Zeda Prodcom, Dany Lily SRL and SC Niro Serv Com. The selection also includes preserves from Belhar Group and Mămuca SRL, alongside honey from Burlacu C Remus and the Romanian Beekeepers Association.
Bakery products and sweets are supplied by Alergo Impex SRL and Croco, which offer pretzels and biscuits, while Pambac SA brings flour and pasta. Visitors looking for natural beverages can find sea buckthorn juice from Cătină La Teasc SRL. The wine selection includes products from Casa de Vinuri Crișan Panciu and Crama Moșia Domnească.
Bacău hosts the final event in this year’s series
The Bacău fair marks the final stop in this year’s series of local-producer markets organised at Carrefour hypermarkets, following events in Timișoara, Oradea and Bucharest.
“Bacău concludes this year’s series of local-producer markets in Carrefour hypermarkets, following Timișoara, Oradea and Bucharest. This is the first time we have brought this format to the city. These events have once again shown us how important direct contact between producers and customers is, allowing shoppers to discover the stories behind the products they consume,” said Gilles Ballot, Carrefour CEO.
According to Ballot, the event also gives the company an opportunity to identify new suppliers who could join Carrefour’s network, which already includes more than 2,000 local producers.
Vlad Macovei, president of the Agrointeligența Group, noted that the project has reached its ninth edition after visiting several regions across Romania.
“We have travelled through Transylvania, Oltenia, Dobrogea, Banat and Muntenia, and now we are returning to Moldova, this time visiting Bacău for the first time. I would like to thank Carrefour Romania for its trust in the project. Our story continues. We look forward to welcoming you!” he said.
Bringing local producers closer to consumers
Launched in March 2025, the “From Here, Close By” initiative aims to improve consumer access to locally produced goods and promote products made in Romania.
According to the organisers, thousands of shoppers have already interacted directly with exhibitors at previous events, learned about the origins of their products and returned to purchase them afterwards.
The first edition in Bacău brings together producers from different parts of Moldova, giving consumers an opportunity to explore the diversity of the region’s food offering in one place.
The “From Here, Close By. From Moldova” fair is open until Sunday, October 11, at Carrefour hypermarket, located at 2–4 Milcov Street, in the Supernova shopping centre in Bacău.
