Buhuși hospital to provide lung cancer screening services for North-East Romania

The “Prof. Dr. Eduard Apetrei” Hospital in Buhuși will conduct lung cancer screening activities between 2026 and 2029 as part of Romania’s national program for the early detection of the disease, the hospital said.

The medical facility will become a lung cancer screening center serving the North-East development region, through a partnership with the “Marius Nasta” Institute of Pneumology in Bucharest.

The program is aimed at identifying suspicious lung lesions at an early stage and facilitating patients’ access to further investigations and, where necessary, treatment.

According to hospital representatives, the activities will be carried out under a partnership and affiliation contract with the “Marius Nasta” Institute and will include medical services designed to support the early detection of lung cancer.

“Early detection can mean timely diagnosis and faster access to appropriate treatment,” representatives of the “Prof. Dr. Eduard Apetrei” Hospital said.

The hospital said it will provide further information on how to access the screening program and the eligibility criteria for people who may benefit from the services.

Hospital representatives described the project as an important step in expanding preventive healthcare services and improving access to specialized medical investigations for patients in Buhuși and across Romania’s North-East region.
