The Bacău County Environmental Guard has imposed two administrative fines totaling RON 120,000 on the Buhuși Territorial Administrative Unit, following inspections concerning waste management and the operation of the local sanitation service.
According to the Environmental Guard, the fines amount to RON 50,000 and RON 70,000, respectively, and were imposed following irregularities identified and recorded in the inspection reports.
Environmental inspectors also ordered a series of measures aimed at correcting the deficiencies identified during the checks.
The inspections focused on the way waste is managed, compliance with measures previously ordered by environmental authorities, and the conditions under which waste collection and transportation activities are carried out.
The sanctions were imposed amid efforts to extend the state of alert in the city of Buhuși, which was declared against the backdrop of a risk that the local sanitation service could be interrupted.
The Environmental Guard stressed that the state of alert does not remove the obligation to comply with environmental and waste-management legislation. Temporary measures adopted to ensure continuity of the sanitation service must also be implemented in accordance with the law.
During a meeting of the Technical Support Group that assessed the situation in Buhuși, authorities reiterated the need to maintain the sanitation service and to use operators that meet all legal requirements for waste collection and transportation.
The authorities are expected to monitor the implementation of the measures ordered by the Environmental Guard and the compliance of the local sanitation service with legal requirements.
