Romanian-born Hollywood actor Florian Munteanu met Bacau’s teenage professional boxing world champion Dominik Dulhac during a visit to the Black Sea city of Constanta, where he also trained with the youngster’s father and coach, Dragos Dulhac.
The meeting was arranged by sports promoter Eduard Irimia, who invited Munteanu to Romania and introduced him to several rising combat sports athletes, including kickboxer Alex Filip and 13-year-old Dominik Dulhac, the WFC Under-15 professional boxing world champion, as well as Richard Oghinciuc, a multiple MMA, kickboxing and amateur boxing champion.
Munteanu, known for his roles in Creed II, Creed III, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Borderlands and Vikings: Valhalla, also took part in a boxing training session with Dragos Dulhac, who praised the actor’s technical ability.
„He is very good, very disciplined in training and would be an outstanding heavyweight boxer in Romania,” Dulhac said, adding that Munteanu shared film-fighting techniques with the young athletes while they demonstrated competitive boxing skills used in real bouts.
During his stay in Constanta, Munteanu also met Romanian football great Gheorghe Hagi, visited the former international’s football academy and attended a Romanian SuperLiga match between Farul Constanta and FC Botosani, where he performed the ceremonial kick-off.
Speaking during a public appearance later that day, Irimia announced he is producing a feature film together with Munteanu that will include young Romanian actors and athletes selected through a series of casting sessions.
According to Dragos Dulhac, Dominik Dulhac impressed the Hollywood actor during their meeting and has emerged as a potential candidate for a role in the planned production, although no casting decisions have yet been announced.
