Romania’s Daria Vrincheanu claimed the silver medal in the women’s triple jump at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Oregon, delivering a standout performance that kept her in gold-medal position until the final round.
The 18-year-old athlete, coached by Cristi Nemteanu at SCM Bacau, recorded a mark of 13.70 meters — her season’s best — during Sunday night’s final. The result held as the leading distance for most of the competition before Bulgaria’s Viktoria Angelova overtook her with a jump of 13.91 meters in the last series.
Angelova secured the gold medal with 13.91 meters, while Spain’s De Leon finished third with 13.58 meters.

Vrincheanu recovered from a failed opening attempt to deliver her best jump in the second round, establishing an early lead that she maintained through most of the final.
