A 16-year-old boy from the municipality of Bacău has been placed in preventive custody for 30 days after allegedly assaulting a 25-year-old man in a supermarket parking lot, police said.
The teenager is being investigated in a criminal case for assault or other violence.
According to investigators, the 25-year-old man notified the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Bacău District Court on September 4, reporting that he had allegedly been assaulted by the 16-year-old during the early hours of September 1, at around 4 a.m.
Police said their investigation established that the incident allegedly took place while the victim was in the parking lot of a supermarket in Bacău together with several other people.
Following the collection of evidence, police detained the teenager for 24 hours and placed him in the Bacău County Police Inspectorate’s Detention and Preventive Arrest Centre.
The suspect was subsequently brought before the court, which ordered his preventive arrest for 30 days.
The investigation is ongoing under a criminal case concerning the alleged offense of assault or other violence.
